As already said, it boosts your immune system, which we need now as winter descends on us, plus it helps you drift into blissful sleep thanks to the calming and soothing effects of chamomile. WINNING!

Ingredients to boost your immunity.

Let’s look into the ingredients of this tea a bit closer to reveal their benefits.

We have turmeric, ginger and cinnamon that add great flavour as well as immunity-boosting and anti-inflammatory properties. Try adding a little black pepper, which helps to enhance the bioavailability of curcumin in turmeric by a thousand times. Just a heads up, turmeric can stain. So keep it off those white countertops.

We have coconut oil, which gives this tea a round and creamy consistency and leaves you more satisfied. Coconut oil is a true superfood with a long list of health benefits. Super easy and quick to add it to your daily routine, just always choose a cold-pressed quality oil.

Then we also add a bit of honey to our fantastic tea. Honey is known for its anti-bacterial qualities. For this recipe, we use active New Zealand Manuka honey, which is known for its medicinal properties. If you don’t have Manuka or it’s too expensive, then you can choose another unheated quality honey instead.

Alright, now you know all about the goodness of this tea, let’s get right into the recipe.

Chamomile & Turmeric Evening Tea

Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of water
  • 2 tbsp dried chamomile in a tea bag or two organic chamomile tea sachets
  • 1 – 3 tsp cold-pressed coconut oil
  • 1 1/2 cup unsweetened plant milk of choice
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • a pinch of black pepper (optional)
  • 1 tbsp Manuka honey or more to taste

Method:

We go back to old school and bring the water to a boil in a saucepan. See it as your evening calming ritual. When water boils turn off the heat and add chamomile tea to it. Let it steep for 3-5 minutes. Discard the chamomile. Now stir in milk, coconut oil, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper if you wish to and honey.

Have a taste and add more honey or coconut oil, if you fancy. Just a little tip that the coconut oil can make the tea feel a bit oily and unusual if you are not used to it, so start with less and add more later when tasting the tea.

Enjooooy!
