10 Apr How To Make Your Own Natural Beauty Masks At Home

DIY beauty

Now is the time to give your skin and your hair some extra lovin’, gals! It’s DIY beauty mask time! And while our busy social schedule is somewhat free at the moment, apart from the daily virtual dinners, after-work gossip catch-ups, live-streamed yoga classes, free e-course and oh wait… we are still super busy. Just virtually now. Having said that, let’s carve out some well-deserved me-time and get your DIY  beauty on with some super easy but oh so effective masks. You wanna look your best even when you are only seen on screen, no? Here are two natural DIY beauty masks to get your hair and face glowing.

Let’s face it; it might be a little while away until we see the inside of a beauty or hair salon. Not to worry, let’s create your DIY beauty spa in your home instead. How good is that? Let’s make your face and hair masks with ingredients that are all-natural and most likely already in your fridge or cupboard. The best bit, both masks have our all-time favourite, avocado, in it. WIN! Beauty-hack for the virtual socialites we all are these days, get your friends in on it, and you can create a virtual DIY beauty day together.

Give me all the shine – Hair mask

The beauty of homemade hair masks is that you’re able to tailor your masks to treat any specific hair concerns you may have at the moment. Are you suffering from brittle, breakage-prone hair? Olive or coconut oil to the rescue. Are you tired of dull hair? Mayonnaise will be your best friend for that. The one DIY beauty hair mask we feature below will bring back shine in your mane in no time. Perfect to send off summer, which we have enjoyed so much, our hair maybe not so much. Let’s wave goodbye to dull and dry hair now.

Ingredients:

  • One ripe avocado
  • One tablespoon of olive oil
  • One tablespoon honey
  • 1/8 cup coconut milk (or almond milk)

Method:

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a blender and mix them until it’s a smooth paste.
  2. Smooth the mixture throughout your dry hair, from roots to tips. You can then wrap and clip your hair up.
  3. Leave on for at least 30 minutes. Then rinse it off and shampoo as usual.

How soft does your hair feel now? And isn’t it just too shiny? A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

Next one up, a nourishing DYI beauty mask for your face.

Hydrate me, please – Face mask.

Avocados are the best. And they are good for you, how can they not? So it’s no surprise that avocados also make a fantastic ingredient for a face mask, as they are hydrating your skin. Add some cocoa as a soothing antioxidant to the mix, plus honey for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory attributes into the mix, and you have a hydrating face mask, that is also entirely edible. YUM!

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 of an avocado
  • One tablespoon of cocoa powder
  • One tablespoon of honey

Method:

  1. Mash the avocado in a small bowl.
  2. Then stir in the tablespoon cocoa powder and the tablespoon honey—mashing and mixing everything well.
  3. Now apply the mask to your clean and dry skin. Leave on for 10 minutes.
  4. Rinse off with warm water. You can moisturise your face as per usual.

Et voila! Look at that glowing and refreshed face. Now you are ready for your next social outing – virtually – obviously.

It only takes a few ingredients to make fantastic DIY beauty masks. Super quick and easy to feel refreshed and glowing all over. Now you can get experimental and play around with different ingredients combinations if you’d like. Left-over berries or yoghurt? You know it. Remember, you are not doing any harm to your skin or hair since all ingredients are natural. Adding essential oils to the mix might also be fantastic. Lavender, Jojoba or Frankincense are always a treat. Don’t forget that any citrus and minty oils will irritate your skins, so stay well away from these. If in doubt to use, better look them up. Now it’s time to get your friends together and create your beauty masks.
